Happy New Year!

sorry i haven't been posting much lately, it just never seems like a very good time! but i am finally getting myself to do it. we've pretty much just been hanging out at my mom's, with a few shopping trips here and there. for new year's eve morning we went ice skating, which laynie loved... for a few minutes anyway! laynie was a little too chicken and wouldn't even try to do anything on her own. and then when we would hold her hands and skate with her, she wouldn't stand on her own at all. so we are trying to skate while holding all her weight... stinker! that night we had some people over, mostly friends of my bros, and had lots of yummy food. then we played apples to apples, which is a really fun game btw! after that i was up watching the others play monopoly and then i went to bed. it was an ok evening for me, would have been more fun with people i actually knew! then new year's day me and my mom went to their little mall, where she had a blast at her favorite store with a huge gift card! she got some really cute stuff on really good sales. i decided while she was doing that stuff i would go and get my nails done! it's not as hard as i thought it would be to deal with kids with these things on! oh and somewhere in there, i think before new year's eve, we went to the movies. we went to see 'the curious case of benjamin button' and it was such a GOOD movie! i loved it, although it was a tad bit sad :( i would definitely recommend it! and finally yesterday we went down to a bigger mall and had fun shopping for, oh i think 3 hours or so! it was fun but would have been more fun without cranky kids! and one more thing before the pix... i am taking my mom up on all the free babysitting i can get, we are going to the movies again tonight! we are gonna go see 'twilight'!! i'm excited, as long as i keep in mind that it's not the best-made movie and not nearly as good as the book, i think it will be good. and we will probably be going to one more movie on the 6th (for brian's birthday!!), so that will be fun! ok, now for some pix...

and this is usually how we find her during nap time. we let her nap on arik's bed, we read a few stories to her, and then we leave her and let her read to herself. well almost everyday we go in and find a book on her- across her chest, over her face/head, or over her bum!

k, just kidding, i have some milestone's to post about! laynie knows what 'upside-down' means!... i thought it took kids quite awhile to figure out the meaning of the terms under, over, beneath, etc, etc. but today laynie went and laid down on arik's bed with her head at the foot of the bed and her feet on the pillow. she looks at me and says, "look me mommy, i upside-down!" it was so stinkin' cute!
and now on to ky... he likes his cereal a little bit now, aaaaaaaand he likes PEAS!!! we tried squash a few days ago, but he didn't seem to really care for them. then tonight i gave him some, and scarfed 'em down! yay, he likes food!
and another ky thing, he plays peek-a-boo! it's really funny when he has hold of his blanket, he'll pull it up to his face then pull it down a little and peek around it. then i say peek-a-boo, and he just giggles up a storm! he'll do this a couple times until he somehow manages to drop the blanket or something! so cute!
one more ky thing... i have a semi-mobile baby! he rolls and rolls and rolls! he made it under the christmas tree a few days ago (see pic above!)
and lastly-well this isn't a milestone, but we went to see Twilight tonight, and i really liked it! i prepared myself for a cheesy movie and that it wasn't going to be like the book. well it definitely had it's cheesy parts, but overall it was good. and of course they couldn't do it exactly like the book, but they did pretty good. i liked it anyways, and than did too!
